On 11 January, the Embassy of Japan started the operation of the solar power generation system.
This system includes two sets of 6.72 kw solar panels installed on the roof of the office building, and one set of 6.72 kw solar panels on the roof of the consular office building. The system, with the generating power of 20.kw in total, is expected to produce 19MWh of electric power per year, which will lead to the CO2 reduction of 13.3 tons.
The Government of Japan aims to reduce Japan’s greenhouse gas emissions by 25% from 1990 levels, and is actively pursuing the policy to tackle the issue of global warming. The operation of the solar power generation system is one of the initiatives in carrying out such policy.
